Unusual, rectangular brooch, made of sterling silver and an authentic piece of charcoal, soldering block, I use in my workshop. The piece of charcoal is full of interesting textures formed by melted flux. There is also a piece of melted silver on it. A horrible end of something, or maybe a beginning. The End/Beginning frozen in time. The end which might at the same time be a beginning.

This piece of a soldering charcoal block is a "found object", not  a created composition. It just caught my eye and I decided to carefully cut it out from the whole piece and set it in silver. I only saturated it in a special way with resin, to make sure it is stable and won't leave black marks on anything. In spite of being treated with resin the surface retained this characteristic silky look (where the block is clean) and "glassy" look where melted flux fused with it. This contrast of different black surfaces and bright silver is what I love the most about this brooch.

This piece is 4,1 cm long and 3,2 cm wide. Silver is oxidized and left with satin finish (apart from the melted silver which is quite shiny) The closure of the brooch is magnetic (visible in one of the photos). It will be packed in a nice box, with a certificate of uniqueness.
